Pentelho - Balkan flavoured Indie Jazz

Formed in 2008, Pentelho is Alex Bayer's creative playground as a composer, improviser, bassist and band leader. The band mixes elemets from old French chanson to Masada-style, grooves, reggae, free-ish jazz and subtle melodies.

Yara Linss - Poems

Lyric poetry of Dorothy Parker, James Joyce and Emily Dickinson, Vinicius de Moraes and Fernanda Young, as well as Kurt Schwitters, Heinrich Heine and Else Lasker-Schüler is where the young german-brazilian singer Yara Linss got her inspiration for the repertoire of her second cd "poems". Yara Linss composed music for this poetry which glides through different genres, flexibly and freely, and that way not only defies any classification but also generates a highly individual own style. With a clear timbred, smooth voice the vocalist, who was born in São Paulo in 1980 and grew up in the south of Germany, puts the lyrical references that date back to the 19th to 21st century into shape of bouncy jazz chansons on a scale of dreamy-maiden to energetic-expressive. The singer, who is just finishing her jazz studies at the Academy of Music in Nuremberg and was the awardee of the Nuremberg-Scholarship in 2008 with her band, is fluent in three languages: portuguese, english and german. Her singing is infolded by a multicoloured sound and the nuanced dynamics of a band of strong soloists, who are well matched and carve out fine details of sound and rhythm, and who keep heading for new and surprising changes in the music with audible passion, be it through a hinted tango, through the romantic gestures of the 21st century or through jazzrock-groove. Between the poles of tenderness and strength the touching artistic character of a young singer unfolds, who with her music wants to catch the moment as it will never be again.
